Irish Wolfhound - Designer Decals

In 391 AD, the Roman consul Aurelius, first mentioned the Irish Wolfhound as a famed gladiator and courser. In Ireland, the Irish Wolfhound was favoured by Irish Chieftains, not only for ferociously hunting wolves, deer, boar and the Irish elk, but also as courageous war dogs, dragging men off horses and chariots. Such was their bravery that the Irish Wolfhound was named Cu Faoil "Cu", a Gaelic word that meant "wold dog" or "war dog" The Irish Wolfhound was held in such high regard that visiting nobility were these sighthounds as gifts. One Irish Wolfhound, named Aibe, was credited of starting a war in the 12th century, when his owner refused an offer from the King of Ulster of 4000 cows in trade for him. Today's Irish Wolfhounds are recreated from the last existing Irish Wolfhounds, crossed with the Scottish Deerhound, Great Dane, Borzoi and Tibetan Wolfdog.
