The Chart Polski (pronounced Hart Pole Ski) is a breed of sighthound native to Poland. There are several theories regarding the origins of the Chart Polski. The Chart Polski is considerably more similar to Asiatic Greyhounds, such as the Saluki or Hortaya Borsaya, than the British Greyhound. For several centuries, the Chart Polski was heavily favoured by the Polish nobility, but during World War II, most Polish noblemen were forced to abandon their Chart Polski dogs, who became strays. As it was a time of devastating hardship, the dogs were taken in by the lower classes and used to hunt game to feed the countless starving families.
